For Credential Holders

Continuing Education

Keep Learning with CECs

Continuing Education Credits (CECs) help you stay current in the rapidly evolving field of sleep medicine. To maintain your RPSGT or CCSH credential, you must earn sleep-focused continuing education credits (CECs) during your 5-year certification cycle.

What Counts Toward Recertification

The BRPT accepts:

  • Sleep-focused continuing education credits
  • Pre-approved BRPT-CSTE credits
  • Approved AAST and AASM continuing education credits
  • Sleep-focused AARC CRCE credits
  • Select EEG credits that meet BRPT requirements

All credits are subject to BRPT staff review and approval at time of application submission.

What Does Not Count

The BRPT does not accept:

  • Life support credits
  • Duplicate courses completed within the same 5-year cycle
  • Credits earned through BRPT exam prep courses for an exam you have already passed
  • STAR program credits earned after you receive your credential
  • Vendor/device-specific education
  • Hours that have not been accredited for continuing education units

Important Reminders

  • Supporting documentation uploads are required for all CEC entries
  • We recommend entering your CECs as you earn them rather than waiting until you submit your renewal application
  • Pending credits are not counted until officially reviewed and approved
  • Applications are reviewed in the order received
  • Standard review time is up to 15 business days
  • You may apply for recertification once you are within 6 months of your expiration date

Expedited Review

Need a faster review? Expedited application processing is available for an additional $150 fee. Expedited reviews are completed within 1–3 business days but do not guarantee final approval.

Audits

BRPT conducts random audits as part of the recertification process to verify continuing education activities and maintain the integrity of its credentialing programs. If selected, you may be asked to provide documentation for credits claimed toward recertification.

It is your responsibility to maintain records of all continuing education activities and submit requested documentation by the deadline provided. Failure to respond to an audit or provide acceptable documentation may result in suspension of your credential. Submitting false or misleading information may result in sanctions, including revocation of certification.
