Continuing Sleep Technology Education (CSTE) Program

The BRPT Continuing Sleep Technology Education (CSTE) Program approves educational activities that support professional development in sleep technology and clinical sleep health. Organizations that offer qualifying educational programs may apply for CSTE approval so participants can earn credits toward BRPT recertification requirements.

Eligible Education Formats

BRPT accepts applications for:

  • Live lectures and presentations
  • Conferences and educational events
  • Self-learning programs
  • Clinical precepting hours

Educational content should be relevant to the practice of sleep technology, sleep medicine, or clinical sleep health. Topics may include areas covered by BRPT credentialing examinations, emerging technologies, and advances in patient care.

CSTE Approval Criteria

To be considered for approval, an educational activity must:

  • Be planned and delivered by qualified individuals
  • Address an identified need within the sleep technology profession
  • Include written learning objectives
  • Use instructional methods that support those objectives
  • Include an evaluation process to assess learning outcomes
  • Include a post-test for self-learning programs

Please note: Vendor-specific product demonstrations and promotional content are not eligible for CSTE approval. Topics related to business or laboratory management must be directly relevant to sleep medicine and sleep technology practice.

Please note: Exam preparation courses may qualify for CSTE approval only when they are intended for individuals who do not already hold the credential being covered. For example, an RPSGT Exam Prep Course may be offered to CPSGT or CCSH credential holders preparing for the RPSGT examination, but not to current RPSGT credential holders.

Application Submission

  • Applications must be submitted electronically at least 30 days before the educational activity.
  • Applications submitted fewer than 30 days before the event are subject to a $150 late fee.
  • Applications may be submitted up to six months before the educational activity.
  • Educational activities longer than one hour must include an agenda showing the date, time, and duration of each session.

Please note: Approval for Live/Lecture programs applies only to the approved event date or approved series of event dates. Approval for Self-Learning programs remains valid for one year from the date of CSTE approval.
